Flying Cotton
The contrast of the white billowing clouds and the flecks of cotton flying from the trees cause me to remember my summer vacations at my grandma's. Life seemed so relaxed, carefree and simple. I remember fondly running to the town swimming pool with my towel draped around my neck and 25 cents for a snack during break time. The afternoon was spent diving for a penny and playing Marco Polo. Arriving at grandma's beautiful home after spending time in the sun seemed to be the perfect way to end the day. She always had fresh squeezed lemonade and homemade cookies, she had a crafty way about getting me to talk about the kids at the pool then our talks would then turn to politics. I learned from an early age to speak my mind and to have an opinion. Grandma was a staunch Democrat and taught me early on the differences of the 2 parties, I wonder what she would think of our political situation today. As I ponder the thoughts of our election I wonder if the carefree easy days of the 60's will return.
